Has there ever been such a useless PBO in the history of the office?
Seems like his whole MO was to gin up controversy through negligence and shitty comms

There have been a number of pieces challenging this Minister over small potatoes things and it really makes you fuckin wonder what the aim is. We could rationalize it by saying its just to drive clicks but I highly doubt that's all there is to it.
06.08.2025 20:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Even in a perfectly democratic society, being critical of your government and staying engaged would be the only way to stop it from being recaptured by special interests.
04.08.2025 02:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Cities are the place to start: 80% of Canadians live in an urban place; too many are mired in car centric planning policy, afraid to take the bold step forward to make better #PlacesForPeople; the time is now. Lead, develop policy, initiate change and watch magic unfold.
29.07.2025 17:19 β π 68 π 13 π¬ 2 π 0And frankly if I was leading the NDP I'd be looking to draw in some more left leaning folks into the race to.expand the audience and the coverage, which is what will ultimately benefit them financially and politically down the road
26.07.2025 00:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'd be kinda surprised if more than 3 or 4 ppl raise the 100, it'll be a bland contest.
26.07.2025 00:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think PP certainly wanted to win, he could taste victory and on his own terms no less.
That said, i don't know if he has the discipline to work on himself and make hard changes.
It's like making the finals and losing, its exhausting and only true champions grit it back out to compete again.
Good thing that military gear doesn't come with hefty emissions or this would really be embarrassing
14.07.2025 15:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is 100% true.
Also, and solid chunk of social media contrarians are paid agitators and don't care one bit about evidence or reason.
Call them out and leave a link or two if you want to do a public good, but don't waste time engaging in a back and forth.
It is a waste of time to talk on social media with somebody who already has their mind made up, and they're just trying to win an argument.
Social media is good when you're curious, and talking with people who are interested to kick around ideas.
I feel like a lot of people don't understand this.
When you fold quicker than Kier f*ckin Starmer you've really gotta ask yourself if you're cut out for this business
07.07.2025 17:39 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If we want to be politically conservative about this, I'm subsidizing their esthetic choice by paying the same taxes they do to pay for the disproportionate wear and tear on the roads.
And that's not even getting in to emissions, extra traffic, and personal injuries/deaths
Urban centres should require a business plate and charge a fee to those who want drive anything that isn't a sedan or minivan inside a city.
The number of trucks and SUVs that clearly haven't seen a real day's work is insane.
At best, they haul a tool bag, a lunch box, and an inflated ego.
Now that we're going to be paying them a lot more and presumably have an easier time recruiting, maybe it's past time we weed the haters out of the military entirely?

05.07.2025 23:26 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You've got to treat your country like you treat yourself.
Accept some things as they are, but generally hold it to a higher standard and push for better.
People who do the opposite and whitewash their countries faults are the same people who go to the gym and only do bicep curls.
CUSMA 2.0 requires Canada to have all jokes vetted by US DHS.

02.07.2025 13:27 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Fact. If you tried to build sewage treatment systems now postmedia would spend every red cent trying to squash it.

I love Canada, but:
Aside from the political contribution cap and SCC appointment process, our democracy is structurally weaker than the USA's.
Many of the abuses of executive power they're justifiably mad about are entrenched in Canada's parliamentary system.
Aside from the problematic legislation and questionable policy decisions, Carney is also further expanding executive power and has already made a fool out of one of his core cabinet ministers. Unconstrained executive power is only good when the person you like is in charge.
30.06.2025 14:27 β π 38 π 9 π¬ 5 π 0IMO the government could afford to step in to help the people most impacted (bought at the peak, cant afford to refinance at current rates etc), and the net social good of increasing affordability and letting predatory investors sink would far exceed the cost of bailing out families who get hit.
30.06.2025 13:31 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Almost no homeowners who didn't drastically overextend themselves would be "underwater". The cost of an avg $150k correction from peak 2021-22 prices would be roughly equivalent to the down-payment. So if you bought at the peak you're losing money, but not owing more than the value of your house.
30.06.2025 13:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It would mostly hurt companies that use residential housing as an investment vehicle...unfortunately those people disproportionately influence the policies, conversations, and coverage that shape the housing market
30.06.2025 13:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Poilievre would have been worse for the fabric of our democracy and society with his corrosive culture wars and partisanship.
Not sure he would have done worse than this on the policy front. This is pretty bad.
Taxing and regulating big tech is a fundamental priority for us to ensure financial stability, democratic freedoms, and national security
28.06.2025 03:09 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Frankly, the DST and tech regs are more of a core sovereignty and security issue for Canada than supply management and autos. Tech services are at the heart of foreign interference, radicalization, and cyber crime. If we can't regulate them as we see fit we have no agency as a country.
