7. So, there is a great & urgent need for people to come together to kill off the ascendant narrative of the Idiocene, that technology is the answer.

6. Compare the harmfulness of a primitive idiot and a technological idiot, with vast amounts of power at her disposal. Technology empowers idiocy, it does nothing to raise the level of the human being. The real solution is inner development.

5. What is difficult to understand about this?

04.08.2025 15:51 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

4. There is a terrible price to be paid, for this mistake. When technology is used to try to make up for a lack of inner development, the result is always a further retardation of inner development & a consequent increase in external problems. (This "requires" more technology & so we descend).

04.08.2025 15:51 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

3. This is a classic case of shifting base-line syndrome. People think that the effects of non-development are natural problems & technology is progress. This to get everything upside down. If there was inner development, you would not have those problems in the first place!

2. All of humanity's problems are caused by failures of inner development. What technology is used for, is simply to deal with the bad-effects of that non-development.

1. It is so important that people really come together in an organised way to uproot the insane narrative that technology can provide solutions to humanity's problems.

04.08.2025 15:51 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The purpose of life is not to find scientific and technical solutions to enable humanity to continue to do all the foolish things we have been doing. That is no solution at all.

If as a scientist or techie you are working for that, you are wrong side.

Everyone is aware that a great reorganization of our society is coming. Institutions, systems of wealth & finance & the basics of government are all in slow motion collapse. But the proper reorganization of society can only come about if it is based on practical knowledge of finer inner development

02.08.2025 16:51 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

This problem can't be solved by taxation - because this is just more denial of the essential need for finer inner development.

02.08.2025 16:27 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

We are already seeing the forerunners of this, with attacks on academics & universities, on the one hand & on the other, rising enmity towards the wealthy.

02.08.2025 16:27 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

When the consequences of the denial start to come home to roost (in the next 10-15 years) there will be a violent turn against the educated and the wealthy - with the idea "they got us into this mess".

02.08.2025 16:27 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The denial, by the educated & wealthy strata of our society, of the essential human need for higher inner development, their absolute refusal to understand this aspect the natural world, will bring about immense levels of suffering & violence, which will engulf them, their children & grandchildren

8. The hermit-monk @satyamuni.bsky.social has spoken & written about the need to return to the finer levels of natural human development. Anyone who really wishes to know how to rise to the need of the time, should read Satya's threads or better still, go and talk with him.

β€˜Self-termination is most likely’: the history and future of societal collapse An epic analysis of 5,000 years of civilisation argues that a global collapse is coming unless inequality is vanquished

7. This article in the Guardian on our society's self-termination of itself provides at tiny glimpse of a much larger problem

6. This is a failure on the most epic scale imaginable from the specific individuals who constitute the knowledge strata, & the organizational strata of our society

02.08.2025 15:45 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

5. At the moment, the people in this strata are so dug into gratification (like ticks) that they can't get their heads out of the trough, to see what they need to do. The basis of this is a hubris, built on gratification.

02.08.2025 15:45 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

4. The result is that these leading strata can only do the damaging stuff. They can't stop doing it, because the only way that the damaging stuff stops, is through the natural development of the human being. They have no experience of this natural development. It's not on their mental maps anywhere

02.08.2025 15:45 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

3. It is the total loss of understanding of finer human development. This loss, among the strata leading society is so total that these two strata no longer even know of the existence of the most important aspect of the human being.

02.08.2025 15:45 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

2. What is this basic foundation of human understanding that these two key strata of human society have lost?

02.08.2025 15:45 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

1. The essential problem preventing humanity from facing up to this challenge is the loss of what really constitutes the whole foundational basis of human understanding among two key strata in human society -- (i) the highly educated & (ii) those who are intensely attracted to wealth

I wonder how many people today here on Bluesky understand that we now face a single choice: self-destruction or an absolutely fundamental & complete transformation in our understanding, our life goals & mode of living, with a corresponding fundamental transformation in our societal organisation.

Which is better, human beings destroy the planet in an attempt to use resources to medicate their lousy inner states, or human beings change themselves, so that they don't have lousy inner states?

The sheer scale of the mental, emotional & cultural shift needed, to avoid an ecological & economic catastrophe, is vastly underappreciated.

It is difficult for people today to understand that business is wrong, in exactly the same way that it was difficult for citizens of Rome to understand that watching people being killed for entertainment, in the Roman Games, was wrong. It seemed incomprehensible at the time.

Landmark Ruling Gives Paris Climate Agreement Teeth A rare unanimous ruling from the International Court of Justice creates a pathway to hold all governments, even the climate-denying ones, legally liable for climate risk.

The ruling from the International Court of Justice last week is genuinely a big fucking deal. It makes it a legal obligation for countries to address climate change. Yes, even the ones not signed on to Paris. Yes, even the U.S. More from me & @rishpardikar.bsky.social drilled.media/news/ijc-1

Probably the hardest thing for people today to realise is that business is wrong. As a mode of life it is wrong. As a goal it is wrong. As an organizing principle of society it is wrong. This is very very hard for people to take in, let alone to understand. Yet though not understood, it remains true

People complain about the state of politics, the state of humanity & the parlous state of the planet, but do nothing to give up the sources of all this trouble.

3. Without this really important step, it is hard to see science as anything other than the handmaid of business. Very hard to see anything other than an increasingly dystopian role for science, as the midwife of injustice, inequality, illness, & ecosystem collapse
