When I was like 15 I remember eating redcurrants in Germany where they seemed (at least where I was at that time) to be more popular than they are in the UK. I think they're probably just overshadowed by blackcurrants here maybe idk

Gaffer tape? My British accent makes this hard tbh

so if I was the sort of person who camps like twice a year for a few nights, it would probably get the same amount of use over a couple decades so I guess it makes sense it might be time for a new one

Also, one of my tent poles split and I've mended it with gaffa tape but the material is also getting a bit worn in places and it has a small leak. I've only had it 4 years but I also worked out I've used it on a total over over 100 nights in that time

This tangented whoops but anyway my adult personality hasn't changed much. I'm basically still chaotic, terrified of trouble, and sometimes bad at assessing what counts as naughty

This was before mobile phones and stuff were common and I can't remember exactly what the plan was but I think if you got separated you were supposed to go to the bottom of a certain route and wait and I must have done that next

To the nearest like, boot rental/hut/whatever place and told the first adult working there what I'd seen and then waited. Ski patrol went up and rescued the guy.

Ohyeah, ski school didn't notice I was missing for a short while but then we're apparently pretty concerned but i did manage to meet up

I remember just stopping and staring and trying to decide what to do and in that time the ski school moved on. I then took the decision to basically just bolt down the nearest (black rated) run (I genuinely have skied since I was about 6 so this wasn't as insane a decision as it sounds)

And stopped and the ski school group didn't immediately notice I'd stopped and skied on. I was shy and had a language barrier (it was a Norwegian ski school where they could speak English to me if needed but all addressing to the group was on Norwegian) which probably explains why I didn't call out

As an aside, I actually once indirectly saved a skiier who had gone off the edge of a route and was clinging to a tree branch, both skis having disappeared down the mountain. I was maybe 12 and on a short off piste section between two routes, following a ski school, at the back. I noticed the guy

Climbing into a tree from an upstairs window, jumping off questionably high places, swinging dramatically back on my chair and catching the desk with my toes but often missing and just crashing, cycling down long steep banks...

Way and a low-key daredevil when it came to things like climbing/cycling/heights/sports. I often didn't have a good natural sense of what might be considered "risky" or "naughty" by adults in this area and occasionally got in trouble that felt both mortifying and baffling to me, for things such as
