本日11月17日は「自由と民主主義のための闘いの日」。36年前、旧チェコスロバキアで多くの市民が真実・自由・人間の尊厳のために勇気ある一歩を踏み出し、ビロード革命が歴史を動かしました。
この革命は、私たちに民主主義と人権、そして世界へ開かれた未来を選ぶ力を与えてくれました。
スロバキア人とチェコ人は自由を基盤にヨーロッパを築き、今では誇りをもって21年間EUの一員として歩んでいます。市場経済と民主社会の構築を初期から支援してくれた日本に心より感謝します。
今日、日本は私たちにとって大切な戦略的パートナーです。
