I TRIED to watch season 2 with Howick but it was making me actively infuriated

It’s like such a show-out-of-time, like it unfortunately reminds me of all the bad parts of early to mid 2000’s fantasy schlock and I think often fails to have its charm

The books might have a good amount of boobily breasted prose, but they also say a lot about patriarchal systems and the toxicity they impose on the people living under them that the show seems to either dismiss as being sexist itself, or not be able to engage with in a meaningful way

Like I fundamentally do not think the show understands Yennefer at all, and as a certified Yennefer enjoyer (have you seen or interacted with Mavka?) it makes me so so sad

It is one of those things where a lot of people dislike it for some very pernicious and silly reasons. I dislike it because I genuinely feel it’s pretty regressive with regards to its treatment of, especially, women and their character arcs.

Barring uh, the wrong reasons to dislike the show, I’d think that game only fans might be more happy with it?

I DO think it’s very funny to see more people exposed to the emperor’s sonic OC donutsteel

Spoilers - I don’t like it. I wish I did! Unfortunately, I find it a lot more bigoted and puerile than the actual books despite its best efforts not to be
