Weird, I was trying to work out if Brian had ever been to Glastonbury (I’m guessing not), and this was one of the first results on Google.

Thank you! We were originally just thinking of some images to add atmosphere, but it became something of a love letter to the fens. It’s a wonderful landscape to lose yourself in.

Lovely piece! I like the typo too, I think Theo should change his name to β€œThe Travis” from now on. Has an element of bling to it.

Gathering Dust (4K) with Peter Chilvers. Film by Dion Johnson.
YouTube video by Curious Music Gathering Dust (4K) with Peter Chilvers. Film by Dion Johnson.

Curious Music wanted to make an atmospheric music video, a live performance, and an interview explaining how a track was made. So filmmaker Dion Johnson and I set about doing all three simultaneously: youtu.be/BhntdvhURVk?...

Quite! It was unexpected though, by me at least. I hadn’t thought beyond making an experimental music device, but we quickly started getting messages from carers of autistic children as well as dementia patients. And many, many parents getting children to sleep…

I’m a bit late stumbling across this post, but thank you! I’m wary of making any bold claims about Bloom, but we’ve had anecdotal reports of people with advanced dementia responding well to it. One non-verbal patient started happily singing along with it, which was very moving.

Small world! I joined MI in 94, I think, and was on Creatures a year or so later. Maybe we met!

I had one of the weirder moments in a weird life last night when I realised that the Black Mirror episode Playthings was inspired by Creatures, a game I worked on in the 90s. Charlie Brooker reviewed it at the time, and apparently it stuck in his head.

I was searching for a word to meaning β€œhaving as few rules as possible” and realised how literal β€œunruly” is. Never struck me before. Isn’t language marvellous?

This collaboration between Nils Frahm and Robert de Niro is currently playing on 6 Music. A 15 minute mixture of grainy folk orchestra and spoken word. Absolutely stunning.

SINGLES €5 each: 'WE DREAM ALL THE DARK AWAY', Abul Mogard's stunning remix of 'All Those Signs', our hymn to the hubris of climate denial; 'THE GLACIAL LAKE' (2 tracks): Peter Chilvers' delicate and beautiful remix of this song, as well as the original track; THE SLOW SLOW AIR, a fugue-like homage to the Irish slow air; HAIL HOPE(2 tracks): Hail Hope is a rousing anthem for anyone whose heart is sinking in darkening times, and Carol reframes darkness as "Mother of Light"; COCKLES AND MUSSELS is a beautiful deconstruction/reconstruction by Matmos, in tribute to Alan Turing, of the famous Irish song, sung by Clodagh. A glorious glimpse of the Britain I was born into. A beautiful insight into the era that produced Monty Python.
