I’ve got some absolute favorite LPs from artists that I don’t want to dig any deeper, because I love the one work so much and I don’t want to dilute it.

In theory, I agree that liking a shirt is ample justification for wearing it. That said, it’s worth checking out a few songs and a wiki dive to make sure you’re not representing something awful (beyond the music).

I was just having a conversation the other night about the comfort of familiar music, even stuff you don’t really like, heard during formative years. It’s a brain thing, not a taste thing.
