Something I've been thinking about more is that, yes old games were pumped out because of insane labor crimes *but the art still exists* Unlike today where we are still putting humans in a meat grinder to make something, but that something is valueless ephemera from gamefied gambling houses or multiplayer games that live for less than a year and then die with no way to ever access them again I don't justify Chrono Trigger putting people in the hospital because I can still play it, but I can at least still fucking play it

Been thinking about Highguard and the impermanence of games these days (which is to say, moreso that usual)

The part about there being a New Jungle book world makes sense, because there's some weirdness wrapped up with the licensing rights for Tarzan (whose world was in the original Kingdom Hearts), so you can imagine them replacing one world with the other.

Either way, I'm all for it!

My personal favorite game of 2022! Loved its deceptively somber and bleak atmosphere, as well as finding and assembling all the pieces of the instruction manual; the latter made for a really really cool metagame

“Why are you protesting Minneapolis, you don’t even live there” I dunno man, why are you wearing a Dallas Cowboys jersey to a sports bar in Buffalo.

Returnal’s fine shooting & movement mechanics (and the fact that I was already 90% done when I finished Act 3) definitely hard-carried me over the finish line on this one; getting those last few trophies was an excruciating grind. Going to take a teeny break before I try out Ascension!

4. I Platinumed Returnal (my 291st Platinum trophy!)

house; I was still trying to come to grips on the basic rules of Returnal’s spacefaring universe before the game started questioning whether anything in it is ever real, which made it a little difficult for me to parse its story.

Still a good game overall though, I remain v. excited for Saros!

Overall, I found Returnal’s third-person shooting to be sublime - but I’d be lying if I said that the roguelike wrapper in which said shooter exists is kind of lacking. I also think that the game tips its hand a *little* too early with regards to the abstract/metaphorical stuff involving the (1/2)
