It’s time to reclaim the word “woke”

To be woke means being aware of injustice and inequality in society, and choosing not to ignore it.

Be woke, and stand proud.

I’m deeply disappointed in @albomp.bsky.social and @australianlabor.bsky.social right now. I campaigned for Labor at the last two state and federal elections and was proud to support them. I never expected to feel this concerned about the direction they seem to be taking.

Every day I read more about the “unlawful” actions of Trump’s regime, and I can’t imagine how heart-wrenching it must be for US citizens watching their democracy being torn apart.

Is it really all about money and control? Do they have no moral compass… no soul?

People often can’t fathom the difference between a million and a billion. But once you do, billionaire wealth comes into perspective, richer than some nations and wielding far more power too. These dates and seconds make the relationship clearer.

I’d never even heard of Charlie Kirk until yesterday, and now it feels like his name and face is everywhere. What makes his death so newsworthy compared to the thousands of murders that have already happened this year?

They need to keep religion out of the classroom. If parents want to indoctrinate their own kids then they can do it at home - not have it forced on all other children at school.

Yesterday, I spent time deleting my ‘tweets’ on X and unfollowing most accounts, keeping only the ones I’ve followed for years.

I haven’t deactivated yet, but I noticed how many old accounts never show up in my feed anymore, the algorithm definitely broke after Musk took over!

If men risked pregnancy every time they had sex and were forced to carry and deliver a baby after 40 weeks, with absolutely no exceptions, even if their health was at risk, would they stop having sex altogether or fight to legalise abortion?
