My first job out of school was at a distribution centre for a big auto parts chain.

A bug in their system caused one part to get shipped back and forth between Calgary and Burnaby every week forever. Nobody knew for how long or what it was - just a big ball of transfer stickers we kept adding to.

Telegram/Discord is sortof the closest thing we have to that vibe now but it isn’t nearly as structured or focused as the old phpBB forums were.

I used to run one for urban exploration in Alberta back in the day and so much amazing community came out of that.

like, 15 years ago when Pandora music was a thing it was so bad for this that whenever one of our techs would leave their account going in the shop, the others would prank them by adding a Christmas song or Kids Bop or something to it. took weeks to un-train the algorithm to fix that : P

I’d surprised if they aren’t. I know that folks have a ton of gratitude for the effort I’ve put into my events, to the extent that they’re even mine anymore as my community has sortof taken over a ton of the responsibilities now.
