Ich war neulich so aus Jux-Nostalgie bei Hagen Rether, den ich vor zwanzig Jahren schon mal in Marburg gesehen hab. Muss sagen, dass ich zutiefst beeindruckt davon war, wie extrem solide der Typ sich alles in allem gehalten hat. Beachtliche intellektuelle Leistung, echt ernsthaft vorbildlich.

Maybe Leo Strauss & those who took Leo Strauss a bit too seriously? In Germany they just say ‚Ernst Jünger‘ until they can shill ‚Oswald Spengler‘ et al. again (plus a bunch of philologists went belly up over the last decade bc they took the word ‚conservative‘ too literal, but idk if that counts).

Needless to say: if you're in Berlin next Saturday and have a conscience you should join either of these marches! (or organize you own if, for whatever reason, you feel you cannot even march with @amnesty.de)

Nah, most programs are set up interdisciplinary today & for good reason. Knowledge is both vast and intertwined; good ‚specialists’ are curious about pretty much everything. Plus you’re constantly networking, traveling, collaborating etc. – shifting back & forth between ‚focus‘ and ‚overview‘.
