Starting the day right.

Fighting game veterns sometimes don't realize just how terrible trad fighters feel before you've gotten over the initial learning curve. Like my non FGC friends love T8 but got bored of GGST in like twenty minutes LOL. Without prior muscle memory most fighting games straight up aren't fun.

Take Tekken 8 for example. It's a fun game for people without any previous FG experience. A new player can pick it up and actually do things almost immediately instead of just standing there struggling with the controls while being overwealmed by options they don't know how to deal with.

IMO: Ego death is bad for retention in the long run, but 99% of fighting games are insanely unintuitive off the bat, and feel super clunky unless you've already gotten over the 2D fighter learning curve. Smash has such a large casual base because it's actually fun when you're bad.

Trigger plugs really are a godsend. Playing without them is roughhhhhhh. Stock Gamecube controller triggers do not take prisoners LOL.

With a modded Gamecube controller Smash Ultimate doesn't really hurt my hands that bad, and I'm quite grateful for it. I played six hours of Terraria with a couple friends, and I am now past the point in my life of being able to binge games without hand pain.

One of my conspiracy theories (I have many; I am paranoid.) is that consoles are intentionally launched with only bland controller colours available, so that years down the line you're incentivized to buy a new one you don't need that looks better.

I also dreamt I was complimented on being beautiful by the cashier, who then tried to set me up on a date with a stunning green haired woman, a detail which is irrelevant compared to being able to pick up ten issues of Batgirl (2000) for five bucks twenty feet away from a slushie machine.

Last night I had the greatest dream I'll ever have. I dreamt I was at a thrift store that sold lime slushies. I fear in real life I'll never reach those peaks.

I truely am a creatute of inate beauty.
