My (least) favourite lift installation is Narara, where two lifts have been installed and there is nothing accessible beyond the 40-vehicle commuter car park, which is a five minute drive from Gosford.

Trains entering/exiting Broadmeadow yard are very long and can really crawl. When there’s only an hourly service, if you’re gonna get blocked by a freight train heading the other direction you might be inclined to do something silly.

The computer-generated announcements on Sydney Metro are by far the worst transit passenger communication in Australia, even if less annoying than the verbiage of Queensland Rail.

Transit voice announcements recorded by a voice artist are such a big opportunity to capture the essence of a community. It’s a real shame to see Scotrail rolling out computer-generated voice announcements across its railway.

Granola in New Zealand seems to be universally served with yoghurt but no liquid. It’s tasty but a very different and dry experience to Australian cafe granola.

I think Australia is quite unique in the world for having very low electronic banking and card fees, at least in terms of what the customer sees.

New Zealand card transaction fees are insane, so I’m paying for pretty much everything in cash. 2.5% universal banking tax? No thanks.
