MFL teacher in Ireland. Not revealing identity but it’s not particularly interesting anyway. Looking for a new place to chat #edchatie

No.
This is the inherent problem with teaching. The talks were created are there to *develop those skills*.
If we, as a society, value critical thinking, then students Need space to *learn* that skill.
Anyone can learn to prompt later.
Smooth talking

Not common. But I often use nonsense sentences to embed grammar structures as students find them funny and engaging 😆
The main thing is that students get the relationships between words, especially singular/plural and verb agreement.
Nonsense can be fun!

I try really hard to tune out of ads but obviously outs difficult to avoid completely.
Local petrol station plays an ad which claims ‘less emissions’.
Agree with this.
Language is about use and it changes all the time, even if we don’t like it.
I find the misunderstanding of less and fewer really tricky though. It just jars.
Just feel like if I know the people and their voice already, it just jars.
02.06.2025 18:46 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Is this a case of AI bias?!

But this is big news. At least some acknowledgment that this is rushed and ill thought through.

Good work INOTE
What do we think of the department of education suddenly being interested in attendance?
About time. Or maybe long overdue.
I don’t understand why I have to take attendance every single lesson if that data isn’t looked at.

‘It would be a tragic irony if reforms that are supposed to encourage individual development and independent thinking were to be undermined by a technology that bypasses exactly those human qualities.’

So create the situation where people feel alone, lonely and want more friends.
But they don’t have time for 15 friends because they are working or spending time online.
Then provide them with fake friends and hope that fixes everything?
A chatbot ain’t no friend.
Worked abroad for several years.
Got it recognised for incremental purposes.
Was a pain. But got it done.
If Minister wants this done and dusted by early May, that’s the end of next week?
What are the proposals?
Well they include any guidance on AI use and AACs?
If not, why not?

‘The resolution states that if negotiations with the Dept of Ed fail, the TUI "will utilise all mechanisms available to the union, up to and including a ballot for industrial action, to defend professional standards and protect student outcomes".’
