I'm just going to go ahead and say it now.

If M11 isn't Brute Bomber again, the entire Arcadion series is a wash.

My WoL dancing with her Copycat Bulb minion beside a forested pond. The bulb is a small plant monster that's mostly mouth and tentacles in a ruffly red dress with little pink flower buds in its "hair". In the pond behind is an adult specimen of the plant creature, which has more teeth and drool but no flower buds or pretty dress in sight. My WoL is wearing a bright red ruffled crop top and skirt that resembles the bulb's attire (though past the waist the skirt is more tatters than ruffles) with an elaborate hair pin with green ruffles and pink rosettes, long green gloves made of wound strips of cloth, and just a peek of green leather boots under the skirt as she jumps. Her hair is done up in a short, scrungly hairstyle, which I swear was the hardest thing to decide on for this outfit because we do NOT have anything resembling a mass of vines wiggling out of one's head in this game, never mind we don't get that particular shade of green as an option for our hair. The hair ornament was the best I could manage to replicate the shape of the bulb's head that included flower buds, I promise

My WoL and her Gimme Kitten standing on a neon-lit street. It's difficult to see at this angle, but its tail also has spikes. My WoL is wearing a blue techno top with spiky, loopy bits for a train; a hood with cat ears; armored gloves with blue bat wings attached to the forearms; and thigh-high, fur-trimmed "boots" that resemble cat or wolf feet with white claws.

In the same neon-lit city, my WoL dressed as a Gimme Kitten is cheering on a man in a techno-looking track suit as he kicks a vending machine. The man has short-cropped hair and is wearing a glowing, circular device on his head just above his temple. The Gimme Kitten is jumping up in the foreground, its functional wings perpendicular to its pink ear wings. It still has a horrific grimace on its face.

At what looks like a food court in the neon-lit city, my WoL is throwing a tantrum on a counter top next to the Gimme Kitten, her arms raised as she demands something alcoholic from the poor Duskwight Elezen woman in the black-and-yellow sleeveless top. A woman in a pastel orange hoodie and a pink t-shirt -- whose hair is the same shade of yellow as the Elezen's top -- stands on the opposite side of the counter from the dark-skinned elf lady, looking either like she's deciding what to order or awkwardly failing to ignore the toddler in the blue furry costume making a scene.

Hebrew calligraphy in dark green stretches in lines across the image. Negative space makes room for a simple representation of an inflatable frog costume with a blue bandana. That shape consists of the English translation of the Hebrew, in a lighter green, and in much smaller text. -- Famously, the Egyptian tyrant causes Egypt to be overrun with frogs because he refuses to free the Hebrew people, but there are additional details that make this a fun one to ponder. For one, the Hebrew says "the frog came up" - ONE frog - even though the rest of the time it says "frogs." So there are a few explanations rabbis have come up with to explain this. One is that a single frog multiplied to create swarms. A more creative explanation is that there was a singular giant frog who traveled and brought destruction. Jewish social media was sharing videos of the Portland Frog protester with the caption, "One Big Frog! One Big Frog!" Of course the frog protesters did multiply, and many were seen in crowds all over the world on "No Kings" Day. This calligraphic work takes the verses addressing the frog plague and combines them to form a simple rendering of the Portland Frog protester. The frog figure itself is made up of the English translations of the Hebrew around it. At the bottom left my signature is in the shape of a lily pad.

As soon as the Portland Frog became a meme, Jewish social media blew up with jokes about the 2nd Passover plague - tzefarde'a (frogs) - and the Rabbinical commentary around it. I knew I had to make a calligraphy piece encompassing all of it. (more in alt.)

Post-surgery, I'm not supposed to be able to burp anymore, either, but that's an expected side effect. As that ability has slowly come back, however, I suspect that I might need to go back to make sure my stomach is staying where they put it.
