Aye-yie-yie. In a more "woke" era, I was criticized in an anonymous student course evaluation for using a racial slur. I had suggested to my writing students that they have a look at James Baldwin's "I am not your Negro," which happens to be the title of the film.

What about Hispanic and Latino students? Jewish students? What is the entry in the color column? Does the student decide? Columbia? Vance?

Probably true, although no one in this administration seems to have an especially good grasp on the rules of grammar -- let alone when it's appropriate to use quotation marks.
