In the whirlwind of workplace challenges, academic pressures, and the tug-of-war to keep our values aligned with our roles, it’s easy to lose sight of the heart of our work. Re-reading my philosophy was like stepping into a quiet sanctuary amid the chaos.

A student recently reached out, asking to see a copy of my teaching philosophy as they were exploring teaching positions. When I opened it to send, I had an unexpectedly profound moment. It felt like reconnecting with an old friend—a part of myself I hadn’t spoken to in a while.

As all-in as university curriculum committee let me for most of my courses. Still making small changes a little at a time in my other courses. I think going all-in gives you the opportunity to make a great and well-intentioned course that you can be transparent about with the students.
