Obviously I replied with

Nothing, just a nervous chuckle and she walked off. Had to explain it to this fellow gen Xer afterwards. Couldn't believe it. Gutted.

Is there a better way to go about it? I'm happy to learn from my mistakes. Less happy to be abused for them.
