The subject of "full playthroughs of escape rooms" came up in a Discord I'm in, and I didn't actually have those archival links in a convenient place. So, time for a (somewhat slowly updated) thread!

Also, I am here to tell you that Jonathan Goldstein is the rare human being who is exactly like he is on the radio IRL. He's humble, kind, curious, and so so funny.

What I wish more people knew about Pilates:
- It was invented by Joseph Pilates, a boxer and circus performer who developed his methods while interned during WWI
- Using a Pilates reformer feels a lot like playing on a jungle gym or using a weird contraption at a science museum
- It is NOT VERY HARD
After decades of searching for a form of exercise I don't hate, I have discovered...PILATES.
My doctor recommended it to me years ago, but it seemed like a fad for a certain type of person that I'm not. Turns out trying to keep your body from falling apart from disuse is good no matter who you are!
It’s February 1 and #EnigMarch2025 is just one month away! We’re making the prompt list (and checking it twice) in preparation for another daily puzzlemaking frenzy. Are you going to be participating this year? Let us know!

My entry Anolelona has a bug, which I will leave in for now, in order to atone and because it's funny: if you get in the hammock the game will not ever let you leave it. Oops 🥲
I wish there was more of a push from writers/websites to have people use RSS. I know Google Reader's death made it harder, but there's apps now like Inoreader and Feedly that work on phones that I think people would use. It's just easier to see something through RSS feeds than checking social media

I saw a post on Facebook yesterday about a swan frozen to the ice on Reykjavík pond. People were wondering what could be done and there was a comment from this absolute legend pictured below saying: "I am on my way with the necessary gear".
And there is just nothing cooler than people like this.

"Gifts for People Scared of Flying How do you feel about flying? Do you step onto an airplane or a helicopter or a hot air balloon and think, this is probably a bad idea? Then these books are for you! Whether it’s the sinking feeling that something will inevitably go wrong or the sensation that really humans should stay on solid ground, these books will legitimize all of your fears and anxieties. Wait, is that smoke? Are we losing altitude, or is that just me? Shop Plane Crashes"
"Gifts for Budding Anarchists Want to destroy everything? Are you looking for the perfect gift for an anti-establishment anarchist? Do you ever wake up and think, maybe today I’ll topple the government? Are you—and everyone you know—particularly fired up right now? Boy oh boy, do we have books for the budding anarchist reader! This compilation of books is chock-full of doom, gloom, and vroom. You might join forces with the Evil Power Master. Or inadvertently aid in the siphoning of Earth's oil through laser straws. Maybe you'll end the world entirely! Could AI have written this copy? Absolutely not. Shop Anarchy"
"Gifts for People Who Love the Terror in the House of Danger on Prisoner Zombie Death Island Did you read the title? Ever feel like one thing goes right and twelve thousand go wrong? Me too. Sometimes it’s exhausting that we have to keep trying…. So why not lean into the chaos? I hate to say it, but you’re doomed from the start with these titles. Did you really think picking up a book called Tattoo of Death was going to end well? Be serious. It’s cathartic to watch things crash and burn. Especially when you can just close the book and go to bed after your own demise. Shop Bad Ideas"

I'm not a person who likes *brands* but I gotta hand it to @chooseadventure.bsky.social for going out on this particular limb this week. It's bizarre, vulnerable, and unmistakably 2024. Gratitudes.

Fred Rogers standing in a wide stance on a walkway near a porch, aiming a camera at the person taking the photo. Pastel green windbreaker, canvas sneakers, sculpture of a baby deer, dead grass, overall New England goodness
This is my favorite picture of Fred Rogers. A close second is the one of him making grilled cheese, but I can't find that one.
