No kids, but know they need rentals. I remember when mortgage rates were 10-16% (1980s) - no chance for regular folks to afford a home. Affordable rentals take the pressure off - people can choose to stay in rental which forces housing prices down with lower demand.

1. Buying Cdn (or non-US); 2. Building low-cost rentals; 3. Getting more doctors/nurses working in Canada.

Watching US elections: Glad to see 2 new female Democratic Governors (VA& NJ); Z. Mamdani (Dem) as NYC Mayor and hopeful for California Prop 50 to pass. All good indicators of a swing vs the autocrat in the White House. Hope this trend holds for next year's mid-term elections and Dems win House.

I see folks I thought I was in sync with turn vs Carney. As an NDPer, turned Lib, I made a choice - vote Carney - get us out of danger (tariffs, annexation) & bring CA to int'l partners, less US. Carney doesn't do fast ExecOs - thoughtful, & planned. Give him time to put us in good position 1st!

If it's books in school, I say let the librarian/teacher decide - most parents don't read the stuff students are taught; and fewer of them would understand it (unless they were English Lit majors). Teacher and school board experts are there to make the call on what is age appropriate.

It's not usual for a minority govt party to entice other MPs to cross the floor. While Claus points out D. Smith did it, it's been years since this was done in federal politics. If offered I can see backlash, but NDP voters must realize they would be getting more powerful MPs & cabinet ministers.

I assume he won't vacate Stornoway since he plans to stay on as Leader. He won't have to leave until after he runs in a byelection to get a seat. I think he would only be forced out if there was a Con leaders race - with a new leader wanting to move in. Wish the Cons give him the boot as leader.
