The passthrough brake lights (assuming they arenโt just reflectors) are cool enough & great for safety. Good for when thereโs a bunch of stuff back there.
Iโve always assumed the R1 taillights were designed with this in mind as well, they are on the outer edges/top of the vehicle for max vis
