I'm curious what your Aseprite / Blender workflow looks like!
I have been leaning primarily into vertex coloring + some painting in Blender for my game but have some familiarity with Aseprite and would like to get a better workflow fleshed out there

Hard agree; Godot 4.6 is magnificent.
Also, the IK system 🙌

The only thing I don't like about it is how it relies on "magic strings" to reference whats in the csv (rather than a strict typed interface like Localization.UIPlayKey or something like that)
I created a plugin to inject them as a "typed" UI dropdown / var but need to polish before sharing 😅

Also, when you're engulfed in a project every single day, it can be invaluable to just take a few days away and look at it with fresher eyes (especially if you're feeling stumped / blocked on something)

It's funny how stepping away from logic / system work over the past week/end allowed my brain to rest and shift gears to freeform ideas entirely organically.
It's as if the way to get my brain to think artistically is to unload any sort of active puzzles / logic for a while.

Hm. I sort of view those same limitations / barriers as "guard rails" for my ADHD. If I didn't adhere to them I would look at my project after a month away and have no idea how anything worked lol

This is brilliant ngl

It feels almost like "training" my brain toward systemic / logical thinking for a period of time and "re-training" it to be more freeform and emotional for art.
It's hard for my brain to be in "full gear' toward both at the same time I think.

Like, when I was in the thick of that art phase it was like all of the ideas would just come to me. Maybe too many different approaches to something.
After ~1-2 months fully immersed in building game systems / logic its like I'm struggling to find the inspiration / ideas for art wholesale

Any other solo devs feel like you're "rubber-banding" between technical work and art?
At the start of my project I felt very inspired by the art direction and exploration therof. Now that I'm deep into technical implementation, I feel almost lost artistically.

If GDScript used a modern C-like syntax instead of a Python-like syntax it would be perfect
Space-based-scoping and plain English operators be damned 😂

Resources in #Godot are so freaking powerful. What a well designed system
Nodes, Scene, and Resources are such an elegant composition structure.

Maybe something about it just clicks in my brain more easily but I've been finding low poly 3D tremendously easier than isometric / top-down 2D + pixel art. I find everything about the workflow easier top to bottom

Not much in the way of interesting visuals to share yet but good progress is being made on the core game mechanic / minigame
Mostly just posting to project to myself and the world that I HAVE been working on it 10-20 hours a week outside of work and it is NOT dead haha

The whole "Retro" aesthetic has slowly moved past pixel art and is now in the PSX generation, by the next decade we'll have indie games that recreate the visual fidelity of Yakuza, GTA San Andreas, and Final Fantasy X

Working on consolidating handles across platforms for updates more focused on dev related things!
In the past I've made accounts for specific projects that didn't reach release so I figure it makes sense to aggregate my work in one place 😅
