The fresh scent of leaves, laid down below my feet, #autumn in arrested decay, food for spring. The now spooky #woodlands are going to sleep, but there's always new life starting to emerge to seed the spring ahead. Theres a vibe...a pivot to a slower time in the #forest today.

If there ever was a day for a #forest hike, this was it. Perfect #weather, light #fog, #sunbeams piercing the wet and #fungi filled forest floor, southbound Canadian geese flying overhead, and the most incredible peak #fall colors the eyes can witness. Warms the soul. #ecology #environment #pnw

Always a fine sight to photograph

4 hours. 4 miles of slow hiking, capturing the smells and scents of a post rain #PNW #hike through two wet forests. While the #autumn colors were abundant, the real #nature stars yesterday were all the #fungi popping up alongside the trails. A clear sign of #forest health...and my own as well.

Yesterday's #hike was just the right mix of emerging #fall colors, fantastic #fungi and crisp air temps to get the new week going.
