Similar to the way the news media will just casually repeat the lie that Trump's DHS is focused on deporting the undocumented, when so many of the famous cases over the past year have been people with legal status who were deportable for whatever reason.

I can imagine nothing so cursed as a wedding at MAL. I'm just picturing a giant Trump face in the background, leering at the bride the whole time.

I read it at the very beginning, fell off at some point, and picked it up years later without realizing it was the same comic, because the art was so much better.

Their guy was bringing an appropriately sized cage, which I did not know at the time, so I was imagining I was gonna be sitting in the passenger seat of some wildlife dude's truck with a frantic injured hawk trying to murder us, restrained only by a $10 Target comforter.

They're so freaking big! I had to catch an injured one to take to a rehabilitator, and they were like "just walk up to it and wrap it in a blanket." And I was like, I've seen its claws, and absolutely fucking not.

Then they sent a guy to help and he also was like, absolutely fucking not.

Her name was Halfstache, because of that one little smudge of white over her lip.

Oh no, this poor guy probably didn't know he could use multiple slurp juices on a single ape 😭😭😭

A tuxedo cat lying on an asphalt driveway, looking alertly at the camera.

A tuxedo cat lying on an asphalt driveway, looking alertly at the camera.

Ugh. I had to let go a tuxedo feral last year that I'd spent years building up trust with. I'd hoped to make her a house cat when my very old dog finally passed.

Instead, once she trusted us enough to let us bring her in a house, we found a lump in her chest, and one vet visit later, she was gone.

This is part of the reason why it drives me nuts when people use the phrase "legacy media." It implies there's some exciting new thing that's replacing newspapers, but there really isn't. It's basically just blogs, which have never been a viable replacement for actual media institutions.

If there's one thing the past decade of American politics has taught us, it's that ultrafussy pedantry wins elections.

Paxton amplifying this tells me all I need to know about it.

Which is that Talarico is who scares them, I don't think it says anything one way or the other about if the allegations are true or not.

It used to be WELCOME INTERSTATE MANAGERS, but that makes me feel bad since COVID got Adam Schlesinger.

Now it's probably FEVER TO TELL.

To this day, it's the only DVD audio commentary I've ever listened to. Kinda felt like I won the audio commentary lottery on that one.

Dude legitimately had a rep as a super smart trader prior to everything blowing up for him. It wasn't based on anything besides the fact that he was rich, though, and I think it's probably safe to assume that people who knew him IRL & still bought into it are probably idiots themselves.

There is literally no amount of evidence that will convince my brain otherwise. So it is somehow still surprised when the bad thing I anticipated comes to pass.

Every time I think Niall Ferguson has slunk off into obscurity and I'll never have to think of him again, he invariably finds some way to grab a spotlight and start annoying me again.

Outrage died down on that one because several years passed.

I doubt Trump has enough time left for people to cool on that degenerate little Nazi goblin Bovino.

And I doubt Vance is gonna bother.

Hopefully he's too radioactive for Trump to pardon.

I have no idea what this is from, but I saw the cartoon and began just the most cartoonish sputtering I have ever done in my life.

I no longer even want to know what this is from. It's just such a good encapsulation of our present moment as-is.

It's interesting, because this tells us that the White House is losing even some of the most Facebook-poisoned right wing weirdos in the Federal government.

It's tough, because a lot of people will intentionally flee environments where they encounter regular people so they can enjoy the company of the like-minded.

And it is so fucking hard to talk to them about politics as a result.

Plus the urge to fracture one's political coalition doesn't stop when the political coalition gets smaller. There are ALWAYS disagreements that seem like the most important thing in the world, whether your party numbers in the tens of millions or the thousands.

Dude looks like the type of guy all these ICE agents imagine they see when they look in the mirror.

I really hoped that the 2024 election would teach us that circular firing squads just help Trump, but apparently not.

24.01.2026 17:44 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Considering we just learned about a secret memo telling ICE that violating the 4th Amendment is fine, I'm not confident that there isn't some secret OLC opinion that Ross can point to as a defense.

Lack of training is absolutely going to be a defense in their murder trials, though. The actual perpetrators are going to shift responsibility to their bosses, and it may very well work. We need to think about how to deal with that, because it is genuinely a problem that needs to be solved.

Yeah, I learned chokes in judo, & I can't imagine what my teacher would do to me if I sustained a choke as long as Penny did. Probably call the police and testify that I tried to kill someone.

And if you know chokes, you also know pins and holds, which makes the whole thing even less justifiable.

Maximum banter. Live albums can be forgettable if the listener already knows the songs well, but the banter gives the whole thing life and character and makes it extra memorable.
