Interestingly, I have seen little of it coming from NWSers. Complaints about the Y'all's of the world seem to be coming from other corners.

Not everyone will agree with me on this, which is fine. But when someone does something that works, imperfect and periodically disagreeable as it can be, I don't fault some for trying to figure out how to help them help us.

We still go to conferences or have dialogues and the topic is "well, the real problem are these social mediarologists that post clickbait." It's been 15 years of the same exact complaints. We're all tired of it. So, again, let's figure out working with the ones that actually do kinda ok with it.

You don't have to like a person or like a person's business tactics to understand that they're relevant and to try to find a way to find common ground. We risk revisiting the same topic over and over and over again for years. Or we accept that the old world isn't coming back again and figure it out.

When someone wants to change a paradigm, rightly or wrongly, in a field, and gains "market share," the idea of change can be hard. We started belittling the "social mediarologists" that did this and put out clickbait 10-15 years ago, and where are they now? Still there. Still doing the same thing.
