Leaving the ECHR wonβt fix illegal migration
Half-baked tales of rulings turning on chicken nuggets are no basis for cutting Britain adrift
Tories and Reform want to quit the European Convention on Human Rights.
Since 1980, the ECHR court has heard 29 cases of immigrant deportation. UK won 16. No defeats in the last 5 yrs.
Quitting ECHR won't fix illegal immigration, will destroy our freedoms and rights.

This is a lie - and as @naamoduk.bsky.social's Emili Stevenson tells me, itβs dangerous.

I think govt spending can and should be reviewed,as I'm sure it is. But this announcement after Tory party's new 'cattle truck' policy to expel 750k migrants. Just a random number. But foreign aide is moral and humane, achieves global soft power and prevents further migration. Far right Faragism.

If a Labour government with 400 seats which has nailed its colours to the masts of planning reform and the green transition can't steam roller people like this and their ridiculous selfish BS objections, then what on earth is the point of it?

How successive government have created a new rentier economy
Governments appease corporations and the super-rich by following the old policies which benefit a few.
Rentier economy.
61% of England local authority budgets spent on social care, mostly privatised.
Adult social care providers profit margin up to 42%. Children's care homes, 23%.
Money buys less. Front line services suffer.
Political paralysis: No major party plans to end to privatisation.
