Explaining broken systems & designing better ones. Policy for dignity: UBI, housing, democracy & sustainability. Sometimes also post Cooking & NBA.

AI will not be stopped.
It’s too vital for productivity and reducing long-term costs.
We must adapt!
Let’s share its gains with tools like #UBI.
Let’s guarantee free trade schools to retrain workers as disruption accelerates.
Freedom requires Security.
Security requires Freedom.
Universal Basic Income delivers both. #UBI
The stretch from July 4th to Labor Day has no federal holidays and that’s too damn long!
Let’s fix that with “Democracy Defense Day” on August 6, marking the Voting Rights Act and the 19th Amendment (ratified later that month).
Americans deserve a holiday every month!
Want to boost school attendance, financial literacy, and long-term confidence in teens?
Give them cash.
A new RCT gave high schoolers $50/week no strings attached. They showed up to school more, saved money, and invested in their futures. #UBI
18 U.S. states now have local guaranteed income pilots that are proving that UBI works.
It cuts poverty, boosts stability, and respects dignity. The question isn’t if we can do #UBI. It’s when we’ll scale it.
On the economy,
Democrats > Republicans
Democratic areas produce more GDP. Democratic presidents create more jobs. Democratic administrations rack up smaller deficits.
Why?
Because evidence-based policy beats tax cuts for billionaires.
Every. Single. Time.
The real answer for affordability isn’t supply OR demand.
It’s supply AND demand.
✅ Boost Demand:
Universal Basic Income
Universal Healthcare
First-Time Homebuyer Tax Credits
Higher Wages
✅ Unlock Supply:
Zoning Reform
Permitting Reform
Infrastructure Investment
The left says “tax the rich”
The right says “tax the foreigner”
Both promise you won’t pay.
But wealth taxes are unstable, hard to collect and easy to dodge. Tariffs distort markets, strain allies and hike prices.
You can’t fund civilization on vibes.
The bill always comes due
Density means more homes & more green space.
The only thing standing in the way?
A restrictive zoning code.
Build up, not out.
Abundance saves nature.
Missouri voters approved paid sick leave. Republicans repealed it.
This is an attack on workers and democracy.
If voters say “we need time to heal,” lawmakers shouldn’t say “get back to work.”
The will of the people must mean more than the will of business lobbyists.
The Democratic Party is at its lowest favorability in over 30 years, something has to change.
Democrats, what do you think is the biggest issue facing our party right now? If you had 3 wishes to change it, what would they be?
In America:
Commit a crime? You eat for free.
Go to school? You’re on your own.
Let’s feed every kid!
Breakfast & lunch, no charge.
Presidents should not have pardon power.
It’s a blank check for corruption, rewarding allies, distorting witness testimony, and rewriting justice for political gain.
Germany gave people €1,200/month no strings attached.
They kept working, slept better, switched to better jobs, and even gave more to others.
Turns out, when people aren’t drowning, they swim further.
#UBI doesn’t kill ambition, it frees it.

NYC approved a $3M guaranteed income program for pregnant people facing housing insecurity & foster youth.
When we give people cash with dignity, lives stabilize, kids thrive, and futures open up.
#UBI isn’t radical, poverty is.
America needs a massive energy buildout to raise our standard of living & make life more affordable (food, housing, transport, etc.)
Solar farms;
Advanced nuclear;
Long-distance transmission lines;
Grid-scale storage.
Fast-track permits;
Fund R&D;
Invest to modernize our grid.
UBI helping people meet basic needs with a sturdy foundation doesn’t kill ambition, it frees it from desperation.
Survival is the floor.
Aspiration is the ceiling.
People don’t stop striving when they’re secure, they aim higher for: love, status, luxuries, and meaning. #UBI
So no, #UBI isn’t redistribution from the productive to the unproductive.
It’s redefinition of what we value, and a rebalancing of power.
It’s how we build an economy that works for people, not just markets.
You don’t get more productivity by starving people into working.
You get it by trusting them to build, create, care, and contribute on their own terms.
That’s what #UBI makes possible.
#UBI isn’t about rewarding laziness, it’s about unleashing human potential.
Not everyone will use it to build a business, but many will and all will gain dignity, stability, and a fairer shot at a meaningful life.
What we call “productivity” today is distorted.
A Wall Street trader is paid millions to extract value.
A single mom on welfare holding down 2 part time jobs and raising a child is called “unproductive.”
#UBI flips that lie on its head.
#UBI is not inflationary “money printing” either, not when it’s paired with taxes that reclaim buying power from those who’ve accumulated the most.
It shifts money from hoarded wealth back into circulation, where it fuels real demand and real growth.
Third, #UBI doesn’t require taxing “productivity.”
You can fund it with unearned income:
Land value taxes (rent-seeking)
Carbon taxes (pollution)
Value Added Taxes on luxury consumption
These aren’t taxes on hard work they’re taxes on extraction, pollution, and privilege.
Second, millions of people do valuable work that isn’t paid.
Raising kids
Caring for our elderly family
Volunteering
This work keeps society functioning but it earns no paycheck.
#UBI values this labor instead of pretending it doesn’t exist.
First, #UBI unleashes productivity.
When people aren’t trapped in survival mode, they can start businesses, switch careers, learn new skills, care for their families or leave abusive jobs.
Desperation doesn’t create productivity, freedom does.
The biggest myth about Universal Basic Income is that it’s “redistribution from the productive to the unproductive.” #UBI 🧵

You might be closer to it than you think.
You say you hate cronyism.
Then why do billion-dollar corporations get tax breaks, bailouts, and subsidies while everyday Americans get left behind?
#UBI isn’t charity. It’s fairer than welfare for the powerful.
