A series of grey and beige rocks, a Neolithic chambered tomb, are in the foreground. Behind them are rolling green fields with a line of wildflowers. At the horizon there is a small line of blue ocean beneath the blue sky.
A Neolithic chambered tomb in Denmark. It is a series of very large grey and beige granite rocks, piled so large boulders are supported by smaller ones in two distinct chambers. The sky above them is blue and they are surrounded by green long grass.
A little bit of joy in what has been, let's say, A Week. Thank you @stoneclub.bsky.social for rekindling my stone fancying ways!
It's been an age, so I refreshed my memory with some of my old photos. This one is Sรธmarkedyssen, Mรธn, Denmark. This was the most peaceful, still space I've ever felt.
Okay, hereโs the deal: RIGHT NOW is the time for concrete, direct action.
If youโre following me, itโs probably because you care about trans art and trans literature. The article below lays out my suggestions for dozens of concrete actions you can take to preemptively combat literary censorship.

Fantastic project and what an incredible insight into Iron Age society, the role of women, and the role of movement!
It was inevitable, finally joined (I'm a bit of a lapsed stone botherer these days...)
16.01.2025 11:26 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0This is a beautiful, social and working class history based museum that really is a home for communities and families - and the "saving" by closing it is a pittance, without taking into account the social cost it would have.

Disappointed to see that once again, Stonehenge is the dog whistle for nationalism.
When those with the biggest profile and loudest voice time and again use it to feed into nationalist rhetoric, how is archaeology as a discipline supposed to tackle its issues with being a political tool for hate?
The clock tower of Bradford Town Hall, a Victorian gothic building, is lit up in pink, green, and orange. These are the colours of Bradford 2025 City of Culture.
A large crowd of people are gathered in the Bradford City Square. It is dark and the square is lit up with bright lights and displays, showing the Bradford 2025 logo.
RISE, the kickoff event for @bradford2025.co.uk on Friday brought me to tears, full of the power of the people of Bradford through poetry, music, dance, and magic.
"Who gave you the chance to be magic?"
Excited to be on the panel for this at the end of the month - talking about why leadership in the archaeology sector needs aspiration, vision, and reciprocity baked in.
"...leadership is rooted not in power and authority, but in service and wisdom" Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass
Cost is huge, but so it reciprocity. What do they get out of it in terms of career / study impact? For the AIA we introduced a new membership rate, and opened up Board roles / experience as well as sitting on grant panels and other committee work. It's doing well for our numbers so far!

Last day off before it's back to work, and I'm reviewing this beauty, David Johnson's Brickmaking: History and Heritage.
Bricks are essentially how I got into archaeology so they are very close to my heart. I wonder what my first brick find of 2025 will be?
I drew out my yearly journal yesterday and realised I wrote half of the title pages as 2024 ๐คฆ still need to get into 2025 timezone!

An excellent start to my birthday this year. I've been eyeing this wonderful book for a while, and it's an absolute beast of a volume!
Please share images of your favourite Gasholders if you have them?
