I had a similar issue and realised quite a bit of the heat loss in my house was due to small gaps around windows and exterior doors.

I’ve just been walking around with filler/silicone gun/draught excluders for a week and it has made a noticeable difference.

I always bang on about sunk cost + it’s ok to stop something even if time/effort had been invested in it.

I should’ve listened to my own advice. I continued despite all the warnings in my head that this is rubbish and waste if my time.
