can’t believe we opted for 1984 dystopia (surveillance and denial of historical fact) and Fahrenheit 451 dystopia (erosion of literacy) instead of Brave New World dystopia (everyone gets fucked up on government-sanctioned drugs and goes to the movies all the time)

Incredibly—“E.T. The Extraterrestrial” in first run, summer 1982. Elliot reaches the cliff on his bike & voila! He & the alien float across the moon and someone in the rows behind me blurts out: “oh, I’m SURE!” (They were apprently fine with everything else up until the moment of levitation…)

Just a curious Commie Canuck looking in from the North—what is the approximate price tag—U.S. or Canadian $…hell, even Euros—that would make someone willing to sell out their soul and dignity for this sort of shameless display….?

It reminded me of the great “Star Wars” Marvel Comics that were published in the 70s during the long 3-year waits between sequels, when there was no “canon” and the sandbox was up for grabs…
