Can 2025 bring a radical rethink of how we consider SEND?
What would it take to create a truly fair education system? It needs to go beyond ‘brave school leaders’, argues Margaret Mulholland
"the number one question for the Commons Education Select Committee is whether our education system removes barriers to learning or creates them"
@mmulholland.bsky.social with a very clear policy message on SEND this morning

The MP said that individuals would still need to be assessed “as having the capacity” and ensure “no one else has coerced them”, saying it is “a very delicate issue”.
She added: “I mean, there are people who have said to me – I think my mum would probably say this to me – ‘but surely being concerned about being a burden is a legitimate reason as well, in terms of…?’
“I know I wouldn’t want to be a burden to people, I can say that to you now in the clear light of day. But that’s very different to people saying, ‘I’m doing this because I feel like I’m being a burden’.”
Terribly irresponsible comments from Kim Leadbeater. Fearing being a burden is not a “legitimate reason” to seek an assisted death and the MP proposing the bill should not be musing whether it is. www.msn.com/en-gb/news/u...
