Stop the Billionaire Bailout Bill
02.07.2025 23:54 β π 8 π 4 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you to the Saunders County Democrats for having me speak at your meeting lastnight, and thank you to Fariner Bakery owners Jared and Damie for a great night.
I had a great meal at BWβs Pub and Grill with Bart.
John Cavanaugh for Congress Statement on Reported Bacon Retirement I thank Rep. Bacon for his decades of service to this country, and wish him well in his retirement. The people of Nebraskaβs 2nd District know itβs time for a change, time to lower costs for working families, and time to send a proven leader to Congress who can end the chaos. The people know that I wonβt play politics but will take action to improve the lives of Nebraskans, like Iβve done in the state legislature. I am in awe of the support I have received from Nebraskans and appreciate their confidence in my ability to represent them in Congress. I look forward to building on this momentum and earning the support of voters across the district because they know I will protect Medicare and Social Security, expand access to healthcare, and support tax cuts for Nebraska families, not billionaires.

A well-known Omaha Democrat is challenging Rep. Don Bacon in the bluest GOP-held House seat in America. Despite bearing the "blue dot" nickname, the GOP has held Nebraska's 2nd District for all but two years since the 1994 election.

@jdickerson.bsky.social I am luxuriating in Whistlestop on a couch in front of a fire in a cabin at state park, but pretty close to your prediction.
20.04.2025 02:46 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0ANOTHER WAY: A group of Nebraska lawmakers said they wanted to show a different, less divisive way to legislate, including a focus on "working families."
From Zach Wendling:
Sen. @johncavanaugh.bsky.social introduced proposals for universal homestead exemptions and new first-time homebuyer savings accounts. Meanwhile, Sens. Tom Brandt and Myron Dorn unveiled two dozen new sales taxes to help fund tax relief.
Those and more, for @NE_Examiner.
