20.02.2025 17:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Update: my mom just called. The Dr immediately ordered a CT scan. Thankfully there's nothing wrong in her brain but it did show what they assume is an infection deep in her sinuses. She got a Rx for antibiotics and a referral to an ENT.
19.02.2025 02:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thunderclap headaches (severe headaches lasting for ~60 seconds) can be symptom of bleeding in or around the brain and should be considered a medical emergency.

I convinced my mom to go to the ER this afternoon; my dad's taking her now. She's experienced two thunderclap headaches within the last week, including one last night. The first one woke her up from a sound sleep. Hopefully they'll order a CT scan or MRI.
19.02.2025 00:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0An open book with the center pages folded into a vase shape with a narrow bottom, wide center, and flared top. The vase is brushed with metallic gold paint and there's a metallic gold and white striped ribbon around the narrowest part of the neck. In the vase at the top left is a stock of trumpet-shaped paper flowers with salmon-pink colored centers and two light green, blade shaped leaves. Next to it is a head of blue paper hydrangea flowers. In front of the hydrangea and down the side of the vase from right to left are three peach colored roses. From center top and curved toward the right bottom is a strand of light green leaves.
My folded book vase with paper flowers is done! I changed out the 2 large roses for 3 small roses made from peach colored illustrations, made a stock of trumpet flowers, a head of hydrangeas from blue illustrations, & green leaves. I also painted the vase with metallic gold & added a ribbon.

30.01.2025 17:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The latest trial supplement was Zynamite (mango extract). I started Life Extension's Brain Fog Relief supplement with Zynamite and peppermint oil on Monday and it seemed to be helping until I woke up at 5:30am with my eyes burning and watering.
30.01.2025 17:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'm on my third failed trial of a med/supplement to improve brain fog and executive function thanks to my overly sensitive immune system. I'm really tired of my eyes and/or skin burning and itching when I introduce something new.

There are two paper roses, one at the middle and slightly left and the other at the top and slightly right. The lower rose is in shades of black, gray, and orange. The top rose is in shades of white, yellow, and green.
Last night I started a new book art idea: folded book vase holding paper flowers. I made the two roses from the illustrated pages I cut out of the thin Reader's Digest condensed book that I folded. I plan to make a few other styles of flowers and foliage for the vase.

23.01.2025 05:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Now that we've found a drug family/mechanism of action that helps my brain fog, I'm hopeful we'll be able to find a drug (or supplement) that I can tolerate.
15.01.2025 19:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I messaged my substitute doctor this morning and request a trial of another blood pressure/non-stimulant ADHD medication in the same drug family as guanfacine to help with my brain fog. Sadly, I wasn't on it long enough to experience any big improvement in executive function or brain fog, but I felt like my brain fog was slightly improving.

14.01.2025 18:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0It was a stark contrast to my PCP and made me determined to find a new doctor. It's annoying that, in a town with a medical school, there aren't enough doctors accepting new patients to fill the demand.

He also had no problem prescribing guanfacine to help with my brain fog & executive dysfunction. Too bad he's retired; I'd like to see him again.

The fruit has to be bletted (ripened until very soft) to be edible. They have 5-6 seeds the size of small cherry pits. They have a similar taste and texture to applesauce. We haven't tried cooking with them, yet, but it is possible.

The fruit on my parents medlar tree (Mespilus germanica) are ripening. Medlars are a very old fruit found frequently in literature. Shakespeare particularly liked it as its bawdy nickname is "open-arse" due to the shape of the fruit and there's a lot of play on medlar and meddler.
