My first academic talk was as a college senior, at a leadership conference at the Air Force Academy in 199. I gave a speech making the case for recognizing selective conscientious objector status. Conference participants lived for a few days in dorms with Air Force Cadets.

Also, most importantly: It was an attempt to overthrow the democratically elected government of the United States.
