Thanks!! They did such a beautiful job--I can't describe how happy it makes me to see these photos in such a tangible way (if that makes sense)

I'm so grateful to the folks at the Lilley and Prensa Latina. If you're in Reno, please check out the full exhibit and don't miss my area at the entrance! (2/2)

Today is the official opening day of the photography exhibit that I participated in at the Lilley Museum of Art at UNR! Stephanie Gibson and her team did an amazing job printing, mounting, and exhibiting some of the beautiful photos that Prensa Latina provided me for my book. (1/2) 🗃️

...and if it's the same "prison" or detention center in Texas where ICE has been sending people, there isn't enough food, and everyone is crying and screaming, and people can't get their medications, and no one can get in to help them. A FIVE YEAR OLD.

It isn't just Bovino. This is the same playbook we've seen in Portland and Chicago: ICE comes in, hurts people, generates outcry, pulls out again and heads somewhere they can pick on people who are less organized and less angry.

"I really wish this wasn’t happening, but it's nice to see so many people are willing to come out here and freeze our butts off to show people we’ve got their backs" - Julia, who works at a business nearby and didn't share her last name because she doesn't want to be targeted by ICE.

The courage of the people in the streets of Minneapolis and the cowardice of a political opposition that has no leader willing to join them, in that city and across this country, is awe-inspiring in every possible sense of the term

This line graph illustrates the percentage change in agency staff levels from the previous year for nine major U.S. federal scientific and health organizations between the fiscal years 2016 and 2025. The agencies tracked include the CDC, Department of Energy, EPA, FDA, NASA, NIH, NIST, NOAA, and NSF. For the majority of the timeline between 2016 and 2023, the agencies show relatively stable fluctuations, generally staying within a range of +5% to -5% change per year. However, there is a dramatic and uniform plummet starting in the 2024–25 period. Every agency depicted shows a sharp downward trajectory, with staffing losses ranging from approximately -15% to over -25%. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) shows the most significant decline, dropping to roughly -26%, while the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) shows the least severe but still substantial drop at approximately -15%.

This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

Reach out to people you know in book clubs and see if they would like to read your book and have you join them to discuss it in person or on Zoom! Academics are used to talking to other authors, but real people get super excited about it. (3/3)

2. Talk to anyone and everyone about your book. I convinced an Uber driver to order a copy! 3. Reach out to your favorite podcast hosts and ask them if they have space in their lineup for you. 4. It sees like everyone is in a book club these days (except me 🤦‍♀️)... (2/3)

This episode had so much helpful advice about book promotion. A few bits I would add from my recent experience: 1. Pay attention to what other authors do and take notes! I've been copying what I saw my friends doing!
