Now That They’re Free, Venezuelan Men Want the World to Know What They Endured in CECOT Venezuelan men deported by the Trump administration say they endured months of physical and mental abuse inside a Salvadoran prison. Though happy to be home, they say the fact that they were released…

Leonardo JosΓ© Colmenares SolΓ³rzano, a 31-year-old Venezuelan, wants the world to know that he was tortured over four months in a Salvadoran prison.

He said guards stomped on his hands, poured filthy water into his ears and threatened to beat him.

Maybe because he hates his family. But I can't help noticing that all but two of the retail properties in the building are now vacant. That is usually a sign that the landlord plans to sell the entire lot to a big real estate developer who plans to build something tall.

Interesting. I didn't know that. I did know that Silver Moon had a partnership with the landlord.

Rare aerial imagery shows displacement and destruction in Gaza Airdrop flights offered a vantage over the closed-off Gaza Strip.

The air drops to Gaza are an absurd PR move that accomplishes nothing helpful for the people of Gaza. But the images of destruction--they are everything you would have imagined and deduced, based on the last year of news coverage. Complete devastation.

The β€œgood people with money” have given money to PBS and also their local stations. But that money in no way equals the large amount that our federal government was giving. Bottom line: there is no effective substitute for federal funding.

A painting you wouldn't have seen in a Cubism room 30 years ago: "The Woman-Horse" by Marie Laurencin, 1918. "Cubism has poisoned three years of my life, preventing me from doing any work. As long as I was influenced by the great men surrounding me, I could do nothing," recalled Laurencin in 1923.

One thing I love about MoMA's rehanging of their historical collection is the international emphasis. Like including Diego Rivera in the Cubism room. Here's "Young Man in a Gray Sweater (Jacques Lipchitz) 1914, by Diego Rivera.

Forced Starvation Is a Grotesque Inversion of Jewish Traditions I learned from a young age that you shouldn’t let your neighbor go hungry. Benjamin Netanyahu would do well to revisit this tradition.

It's been pretty obvious for a long time that it's genocide. This is not some mistake on the part of Netanyahu. It's policy.

Looting, chaos and Israeli gunfire prevent aid from reaching Gazans Israel said it would allow more food to enter Gaza and provide secure corridors for humanitarian aid. But U.N. officials say almost nothing has changed.

Israel is preventing food from getting to the people of Gaza.

MoMA's third floor galleries are looking good ... even if they are a bit overcrowded.

I spent decades at Columbia. I’m withdrawing my fall course due to its deal with Trump | Rashid Khalidi The university’s draconian policies and new definition of antisemitism make much teaching impossible

Rashid Khalidi may be the first, but he will certainly not be the last respected professor to refuse to teach at Columbia under its new, terribly compromised regime.

When I had a university job, the evaluations and especially the self-evaluations required struck me as reminiscent of what I had read about East Germany and the Soviet world. Looks like the Soviet world is now truly coming to Brown. Only thing missing: commissars overseeing things.
