This makes me anger. Emilia Perez is deeply transphobic at its core, & while Karla is GREAT in it, her casting feels like a shield for the cis creator’s refusal to listen to trans voices. Her claim that only trans filmmakers can critique it is galling when Hollywood only supports us in tokenization.

Emilia Perez isn’t about exploring trans humanity—it’s about accolades for cis creators performing hollow allyship. It gawks at trans women, reducing us to liars or predators, reinforcing gatekeeping narratives, and calling it “enlightening” while pandering to cis biases without challenging them.

There is no issue of trans people unfairly dominating in sports. It’s an imagined problem to justify transmisogyny. There are 10 trans athletes in the NCAA out of 500 000… that’s 0.002%. Trans people are about 1% of the population which mean trans athletes are underrepresented in sports. WONDER WHY
