macOS Liquid Glass, what was wrong with right angles for app windows or at least the more shallow rounded edges like we had.
The roundness of this design is not my favorite.

Thereβs never been a better time because open source alternatives have gotten very good and self-hosting (e.g. using Raspberry Pi with services like Tailscale) has never been easier. open.substack.com/pub/parismar...

To go along with all of the other housing crisis in this country there really needs to be some sort of sensible rules around house flippers. Requiring licensed and bonding maybe.
Totally possible that Iβm talking out of my ass since I have a sample problem of 1 right now.
Update: it does hurt. ~$15k +/- in repairs.
Donβt buy a flipped out. Save the money on a βdatedβ house and use the difference to flip it yourself using people you trust if youβre not comfortable doing the work yourself.
Have a plumber sit in their truck actively writing a quote for 20 minutes can not be a good thing. This is going to hurt.
Thoughts and prayers please.

I am begging you: if you are writing a thread of more than a couple posts, get a blog. I donβt mean this in a mean way. I mean: allow this thought to continue to exist, outside of this platform, in an actually coherent, readable format that sticks around for longer than 20 minutes. You deserve it!
31.01.2025 00:43 β π 625 π 91 π¬ 18 π 17Weβre building a new static type checker for Python, from scratch, in Rust.
From a technical perspective, itβs probably our most ambitious project yet. Weβre about 800 PRs deep!
[β¦] in the era where these AI systems are true 'everything machines', people will out-compete one another by being increasingly bold and agentic (pun intended!) in how they use these systems, rather than in developing specific technical skills to interface with the systems. We should all intuitively understand that none of this will be fair. Curiosity and the mindset of being curious and trying a lot of stuff is neither evenly distributed or generally nurtured. Therefore, I'm coming around to the idea that one of the greatest risks lying ahead of us will be the social disruptions that arrive when the new winners of the AI revolution are made - and the winners will be those people who have exercised a whole bunch of curiosity with the AI systems available to them. - Jack Clark
