Going old-school today teaching sequence organization in the #CA class! The students also seemed to be having fun putting these seemingly random lines in an order that would make sense as a conversation.

Does anyone recognize what classic data this is from? 🤓 Extra points for the correct order!

Today's pretty rough news-wise (urghh), so to interrupt your doomscrolling here's a picture of a willow catlin I spotted on a walk on Saturday.

For those still learning about the nuances in the concept of personal space in Finland, know that I consider both of these scenarios equally unacceptable.

The first one, for sure! There's also still quite a lot of the "dark rectangle with a stub of an antenna" icons in use with the no-phone signs here, which must be even more confusing for the (younger) kids.

Me too! I'd imagine the 3310's meme value makes it appear on the Gen Zers' FYPs every now and then (?), but I wouldn't be so sure about anyone born in the 2010s 🤔🤷‍♂️

Ah yeah, I remember having seen those too! And also some tiny "library" cabinets in parks and on some roadsides in Australia. So nothing too special then, except perhaps in our neighborhood, where everything that isn't locked usually gets stolen very quickly. 😃

Is this a thing also elsewhere? We have this self-service Christmas tree sale in our neighborhood, where you just pick a tree, use an app to pay the price indicated by a colored ribbon, & use the provided saw to shorten it, if needed. I guess no-one just grabs one and walks without paying, cool! 🎄

We DIDN'T bite yet, so dunno! We'll keep him (& the Falcon) intact over Christmas. My money's on crunchy-but-can-rip-your-arm-out.

Went to see this documentary today about a Finnish actor's search for information on his granpa, who was an intelligence officer in WW2. More than anything, this turned out to be an exploration of generational trauma. As another grandson of a war veteran, I felt this really unlocked something. Huh.

Our friendly neighbourhood hydroelectric plant this evening, giving off some nice, calming, dystopian scifi vibes.

Practical applications already exist. Ex3 of this paper is used in interaction awareness workshops on the military observer course as an example of potential communication problems within patrol teams & for reflection tasks regarding aspects of interactional competence. 16/17
