This page depicts three comic strips in a stack. Each strip is a parody of a different classic newspaper comic strip. At the same time, the page shows my dog hero and cat mage characters chasing each other, from the bottom left to the top right. They run in and around the comic strips, interacting with their events. The bottom comic is a parody of Calvin and Hobbes called Alvin and Dobbes. The cat climbs into Alvin's wagon as he rides it down a hill. Alvin asks if the cat ever feels out of place, like he belongs somewhere else? In the last panel, the wagon hits a rock and launches them both in the air, with the car launching up and out of the strip. The middle comic is a parody of Blondie called Blondy. The Dagwood character is making a huge sandwich, and says all it needs is a hot dog. He reaches down and accidentally grabs the dog hero, lifting him up into the strip. The dog hero climbs up out of the strip by climbing up the sandwich, ruining it. The Dagwood character looks said and says he finally went too far. The top comic is a parody of Rex Morgan MD called Rex Mason MD. In the first panel, the doctor asks a woman if she is still seeing tiny creatures. In the last panel, we see a close up of the woman screaming as the dog hero and cat mage climb up through the panel, before chasing each other off the page in the top right.

Behind the locomotive are three brick-red ballast hopper cars, and an orange-yellow caboose. Further in the background are the coal and water towers of the East Ely yard complex, followed behind by a sagebrush-covered mountainside rising up from the valley floor.

Obligatory — Rowling is a dirty spineless TERF and deserves to rot in Hell where she belongs. I was not planning on watching the Potter streaming series, and this does not change anything.

Mine is a minor grievance in the grand scheme of things, but… I can be mad at two things!

“Olton Hall” was selected by Chris Columbus mostly out of convenience — I love the Hall as the design for “Hogwarts Castle”, but the reboot should’ve been an opportunity to go all-in on historical accuracy (e.g. pick an 18th Century design), or all-in on fantasy (e.g. the Jim Kay illustrations)

I love that they’ve really committed to the idea that, in 1830, the GWR designed a locomotive a hundred years more advanced than contemporary designs, builds it at their rival’s factory in Crewe, and only builds one. Said train is stolen, and nobody thinks to build more for a hundred years.
