"It's going to start with shorts and animated things and so forth, but it's going to work its way up to full movies."

Yesterday 50 Israeli doc filmmakers publish open letter expressing “profound shame,” “helplessness,” over genocide in Gaza & solidarity with global boycott of Israeli cultural institutions.

Feels like this is echoing the turn towards big funding for social impact films in Hollywood some years ago, but then actually that leading to apolitical films without social justice outcomes.

Convincing people to wait on the hoped-for benevolence of rich people rather than taxing the shit out of them and having fully funded social welfare programs is the greatest trick that Regan ever pulled.
