But the exodus was getting bad enough for me to look at alternatives.

My threads (Instagram) follows consisted of a bunch of pple I knew from high school and college saying dumb shit I didn't care about plus celebrity opinions I didn't care about.

The pseudo-anonymity and network distinct from your IRL friends creates a different culture on Twitter (and now Bluesky).

Mix of sincere urbanist, transit, and Tesla/EV content with the occasional reply guy shitposting thrown in.

It is so incredibly nice to have a social platform that values links again - a breath of fresh air in the poisoned ecosystem of the creator economy

Love to see it. Underrated downgrade on Musk’s Twitter was links being replaced by screenshots to game the algorithm. Entire threads arguing over an excerpt from a NYT or WaPo article that no one bothered to go read because finding it means manually typing text from an image into Google.

Lol upside of the Twitter algorithm going MAGA is I didn’t have to see these fear-mongering posts about the supposed next big pandemic every day.
