Almost feels like people feel like they have an obligation to socialize and burn time when they're in the office now
There's the whole middle mouse click, but clunky and feels like a dated experience
Some mice have scrollballs- experience is pretty good there- but some have horizontal scroll wheels too (but often those are clunky too)
I think I need to push back more on he concept of mobile when designs come back- and focus on having designers consider the whole picture- because on a desktop, in a small width viewport, horizontal scroll is clunky without a trackpad

maybe im socially awkward but iโd rather people treat me normally instead of extending sorryโs and condolences- i get enough of a reminder of my reality when i see a photo of my father or see his shoes and lunch bag waiting for him

23.05.2025 23:53 โ ๐ 55 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 5 ๐ 0We're living through the Who Cares Era, where completely disposable things are shoddily produced for people to mostly ignore, while the government stomps its uncaring boot on our necks. But there's an easy way to fight back: Care.

04.05.2025 02:13 โ ๐ 20 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Two weeks ago, I was in Paris, presenting "Node.js will use all the memory available, and that's ok!" at dotJS. Quite a few people asked me if I planned to write a blog and document my findings.
Here it is!

In our experiment with popular web pages, 17 out of 20 showed improvements, and the average foreground parse and compile times reduction was 630 ms. You can trigger eager compilation for the whole file by inserting the magic comment ``` //# allFunctionsCalledOnLoad ``` at the top of the file. This feature should be used sparingly though - compiling too much will consume time and memory!
Chrome 136+ ships a new V8 version that supports a "compile hint", which makes V8 parse and compile all functions in that file eagerly.
Great for entry points โ where you know all functions will very likely be used. Less so as 'one weird trick to make all your JS faster'.
If you write code to make websites (HTML, CSS, JS, Web API, Media) and you get frustrated trying to wrangle your code to work in Safari, which bugs are blocking you? Which existing features would you most like to see improved? If you got a chance to order priorities which effort would you put first?
