The thing is that's a -very- common thing on there sounds like some of the attitude across the industry, certainly the attitude from the owner of an undisclosed audio company in Australia

Apparently if you dare to ask to be called 'she' instead of 'he', you're A Problem

Yeah they apparently meant people in their 20s who don't have a family/home life yet

And apparently being in my 30s,having a supportive family and saying I've got plenty left in me is "being difficult" because I disagree with someone saying I'm too old to bother

Last time I asked on reddit I got told this was a young person's game, replied that I've still got plenty in me and have since been told I must be difficult, and so won't get hired

I don't even know

But imagine being laughed at by an owner of an audio company for saying you wanna do live audio...

I've been turned down by Encore multiple times, had a transphobic rant from a corporate owner here in NSW, applied everywhere I can find that comes with getting paid

The radio stations I've emailed about volunteering haven't gotten back to me yet

I feel like the field has just left me behind ><

Looking once again for anyone out there in AV/live events, especially in Australia

I do volunteer AV at conventions but have been turned away by every AV company I've applied with both small and large, my emails bounce from at least two since they said no years ago

Encore has turned me down...

Is there anyone at UTS (Sydney) who might be able to explain why I'm not getting rejections on my job applications there? Confirmation emails suggest I should expect them, but I've yet to receive any followup whatsoever. Emailing recruitment is also met with complete silence...

one of my most controversial art opinions, but i do not think you need to finish a book to be an author. lots of talk on 'WHEN do you become a REAL writer? 10000 words? 1000 word?' personally i think it takes ZERO words to be a valid writer. john cage would still be a musician if he only wrote 4'33

It's nearly October, and that's our awareness month!
I may have a few posts prepared, and an Itch Bundle of 22 books, by authors with ADHD and or with significant characters who have ADHD 😄. Starts Oct 1st!

There will be other hypno stuff but that goes elsewhere. It's still voice and audio work though and the stuff you can show your normie housemates is completely valid and has a place too~

But yeah I think I might have found my voice (for now) to actually do this stuff again

Extremely normal feelings about hypnosis lately. Maybe with motivation on the rise I dive into that and voice work again <3

I miss doing audiobooks and honestly it'd be cool to put my particular voice and set of skills to work on some general relaxation stuff that -actually works- for people

I've auditioned for SO many things but haven't landed a gig yet, and I plan to continue auditioning.

I found my feminine voice by narrating an audiobook as part of a uni project~

It also very directly hurts the next generation of voice actors of all ages and genders. Indie games are a big in-road for those of us, like me, who haven't made a name for ourselves and maybe that one audition lands and now you can say "yeah I'm in a thing! I have a voice resume!" to other studios

In more fun news though, might be picking up an inexpensive TLR camera soon, obscure little Chinese thing based on a Seagull. I've played with the style a few times and I -love- using TLRs so far, so...heck yeah

Knowing I struggle with reading sarcasm myself at times, to be abundantly clear I'm utterly appalled at this decision and wish I could refund the game this was added to on the basis that I would not have bought it had I known AI would exist and be used in it

Love finding out my favourite game series is using AI voiceover for characters now. I love companies that used to take volunteer voice artists replacing them with the content recycling machine.

I genuinely loved the B-movie jank to the voicework and I regret preordering it before genAI now...

Finally getting set up properly in the new place~ PC setup is much comfier for actually doing things, VR should happen again soon, exciting times and we'd better not have to move again next year...
