Mandatory high school civics class that isn’t just like “how a bill becomes law” or whatever but also “how NOAA powers your phone’s weather app” and “NIH helped make your asthma inhaler”

Science is (ideally) the careful collection and documentation of observations, and an honest, ongoing debate about what those observations most likely mean.

Lab coats optional.

I think at this point if you’re not getting censured by congress it’s probably a sign that you’re simply not going hard enough

Happy International Women's Day! Despite the efforts, while much more women enter scientific fields, due to numerous factors, few manage to remain in the field or secure senior positions. Support your coworkers, call out harmful systemic behaviour. 😘

HHMI is a wonderful organization that has done and supported amazing work that has made measurable impacts across science and science education. I hope that there is a valid reason for the cancellation.

Scientists Think the World's Oldest Dinosaur Fossils May Still Be Awaiting Discovery We just have to find them... and that might be a problem.

One of my biggest pet peeves is the phrase "dig for fossils." Fossils really need to be on or at the surface to be found, and that means that what we have found is a teeeeeeeeeny little portion of what's out there. Isn't that exciting?
