The next two days - with my poster presentation tomorrow (pics will follow)...
Very excited for this conference. All the people there are people presenting research (in field of learning disabilities) and most importantly people with learning disabilities who are co researchers. This is my tribe πŸ’œ

The poster is for adults with Down's syndrome aged 40 years old or above, who live near London. It invites you and your family or carers to get involved with a project about falling over and moving around safely. If you get involved, we will have some meetings together. We want to hear your stories about falling. We also want to hear what helps you to move around safely. We will make a film together to train healthcare staff, like doctors or nurses. You and your family or carers will be paid Β£25.00 per hour for helping. Please contact Phoebe Averill on 020 7594 9038 to talk about it.

We need help from adults aged 40+ with Down's syndrome and family/carers to make a film together to train health & social care staff.

We want you to share your experiences of falling & ideas about what helps you to move safely, to help staff to support you.

Please get in touch!

@susiedent.bsky.social What is the opposite of inclusive? Disclusive would work but is not a word, and exclusive doesn't work? So, eg inclusive v's disclusive society. Disclude doesn't work as that's opposite of include and suggest something more individual. Or is dosclusive a word? πŸ™‚

Learning Disability Autistic Long-stay Hospitals Learning Disability Autistic Long-stay Hospitals was a network focused on improving discharge for those individuals who needed extra support

One of the very worst scandals in UK public services has been the issue of people with learning disabilities in long stay hospitals. Really pleased that IMPACT has been working on this subject to gather evidence to support positive change. Read more here: impact.bham.ac.uk/our-projects...
