The real, common sense solution to this mess? Create a system of work visas for immigrant labor so they can be employed here. Employers would have to abide by minimum wage laws, and it would provide a legal work status for immigrants.

I agree wholeheartedly. Prosecute those who are knowingly offering slave labor wages to immigrants. They're creating the demand for such labor.
