That single paragraph? I suspect it was more to do with with his journalistic and literary persona as a contrarian. Though a conservation in most meanings of the word, his involvement with politics was always minimal.

I respect your opinion. It's certainly not a good look.

Currently reading this in preparation for an essay on genre roleplaying. A deep dive into the cloud of unknowing and the via negativia and its influence on Ligotti and others. My (developing) take: Confronted by horror, you go insane. You can either lose your sanity, or lose your 'you'.

This what dungeons and dragons does to people.

Gedday again Rusty - it's a small world! 😀 I remember that campaign with our Scandinavian friends, and I remember the session on the day the 2003 Canberra fire tornado came over the ridge where I lived. 😱

Two stages of writing:

1) This shouldn't take too long
2) Oh no

Oh certainly. It does seem odd, but I don't know the context. As an editor, I don't mind being super-pedantic, even obtuse if it might serve the final text, and I make sure my authors know where I'm coming from.🙃

In defence of editors everywhere: we try to raise *everything* that may confuse or disorientate a reader. We rely on the author to decide if the comment is relevant in context or not. Better clarity than silence. We work with an author, and with time understanding and trust grow in partnership.

("Cthulhuscene" is a term evoked by Donna Harraway, based not on our GOO but a spider whose name evokes the cthonic.)

2/3 What Seeds of Unknowing might an investigator plant? What thoughts unthunk might be incarnated? The path I'm exploring takes inspiration from new weird and weird mysticism, based around my exploration of an Aboriginal community in change. I'm still wrestling, but am standing to see glimmers.

Roleplaying in the Cthuluscene

4 years in, and approaching final layout, I have finally realised what my 1920s CoC is about. Lovecraft's cosmicity *paralyses*. Sanity is only part of the equation. In the anthropocene, in a world of wicked problems, how might our tiny minds resist the Mythos?

Gedday Rusty - very much a novice myself I'm afraid. The campaign is run by a friend. I am impressed by the Renaissance/Guild background and the underlying darkness. I started with www.rpg.net/reviews/arch..., and found searching for Warhammer in r/rpg on Reddit also useful.

Hmmm. Perhaps defining the parameters of a preliminary lit review is a necessary first step. Should we go to tender or schedule it in house? 🤔
