Well, I think that depends. Stories are nice, but there is nothing bad on boring, difficult to approach , descriptions. If you dont consider social aspect, it doesnt really matter what general audience think about a research. From that point of view publishing is a way of recording phenomena.

So it is the scale. Because all the megafauna globaly went extinct we see effects that normally we ascribe to geological/climatic events, but we are naturally underestimating biotic effect cause we consider them too small?
