Muff believes three primary forces guide a person’s life: who your God is, who your partner is and what your life’s work is. But, for him, there is arguably a fourth: trains, whose tracks stretch through his life and down into his basement.

“It’s modeling a piece of my childhood,” Muff said, before pointing out his grandparents’ farmhouse between Decatur and Gentry in Arkansas. “It’s those childhood memories that power this kind of stuff.”
